“The powers of A’ano’nin are living through the senses, being attuned to the vast rhythems of nature, following the wisdom of the body and taking joy in all phases of the cycles affecting human life.”
Linda Falario
The Greco-Roman Mystery cults were ancient religious schools whose purpose was soul evolution, advancement, and initiation into various magical systems. The term mystery come from the word mustḗrion, which means “revealed secret” and to “close” or “open” oneself to these secrets. In Ancient Rome there were many different mystery cults which each had their various secret traditions, but this process, of initiation and expanding consciousness though story is something seen worldwide, in many different cultures throughout history.
One of these mysteries that we have records of was the Eleusinian Mysteries were initiation rites held in Ancient Greece. They were held two times a year, in the spring the lesser mysteries were enacted with the purpose of cleansing and in the fall the greater mysteries were performed. There is much we don’t know about these rites as the participants were sworn to secrecy, however from what we can piece together we know the rite consisted of three parts.
- The Dromena: this is where initiates enacted things and the myth was experienced.
- The Deiknumena: the ceremony where sacred relics were shown to the initiates.
- The Logomena: where words and enchantments were uttered by the initiates and things were explained to the initiates by the priests and priestesses.
Within the lens of the Qliphoth, A’ano’nin is the spirit who oversees the process of initiating into said mysteries. A’ano’nin oversees the 16th (26th) tunnel in what is called the Tunnels of Set. It resides between the spheres of Samael and Thagirion. The tarot card that coincides with this tunnel is The Devil. The forces of this tunnel slice through the veil of reality and catapult the initiate into the mysteries of the beyond.
A’ano’nin teaches initiates to connect to their human selves and physical forms without losing tough of their connection to the beyond. This can help initiates find authority and self control within themselves, as well as help them feel less trapped.
Through the process of initiating through the various “mysteries” which can be any version of the journey in story form, initiates learn to expand their consciousness and expand past their once limited viewpoint. Through the process of the mysteries, initiates learn what it means to be one with the universe and the cosmos.
Stories and storytelling have always been a huge part of my spiritual journey. It is as if the language of stories, poems, and songs, comes more naturally to me than other words. This came to life for me in a variety of ways. Sometimes my own stories were being breathed to life, other times it was seeing how I was connected to the stories of others. And lastly, seeing how I connected to the bigger picture of it all. The stories are much larger and longer than I ever could be in this single human vessel.
Whether on a small scale, or large, the process of initiating into the mysteries is to expand your limited view of consciousness and to free yourself.
